Alternative Provision

Our Alternative Provision project provides bespoke, 1:1 education packages for young people aged five to 25. Our Alternative Provision Education offer is structured as:

  • School Age (Primary & Secondary)

  • Post 16 & Young Adults

  • Young People in Custody

The project is primarily for those with significant barriers to learning or well-being, which lead to the young person not currently attending school or requiring extra support to remain in mainstream education.

Our packages range from one hour per week of pastoral mentoring which complements existing provision, up to 16 hours per week, supplying the young person’s full education provision.

Each package is uniquely tailored to the young person and family, and so the support we provide varies from person to person; this includes length of intervention, weekly contact time, and the focus of sessions. We work collaboratively with the family, and with professionals, to remove barriers, to build on the young person’s strengths, and to empower them to work towards their own goals.

The provision should increase resilience and well-being, and prepare the young person for further learning and/or employment in the future. For those in exam years, it should lead towards routes of accreditation. The programme is founded on building rapport with trusted adults in a 1:1 setting. Sessions are bespoke, but would typically consist of a combination of:

  • Mentoring

  • Project based learning

  • Core skills in literacy and numeracy

  • Skills for life, including positive activities and engagement with the community

  • Family engagement.
