Think Sharp
Think Sharp is a targeted intervention to inform young people of the risks, behaviours and consequences associated with knife crime. The intervention can be delivered in different formats, from 1:1 mentoring and small group programmes, to interactive workshops and school groups. Think Sharp focuses on building resilience, on cultivating aspirations and social skills, and on raising awareness of knife crime, anti-social behaviour, gangs and exploitation.
We facilitate a supportive environment to build self-esteem and confidence, to increase positive motivation, and to challenge inappropriate and misconceived ideas around carrying knives. Where appropriate, we work to re-engage young people in education, reducing the risk of exclusion, and the consequential increased risk of entrenched criminal behaviour.
Sessions involve positive activities, presenting accessible and engaging alternatives to crime and anti-social behaviour. Content includes guidance on the legal, social and health implications of carrying knives. The personal development programme addresses identity and builds aspirations, to reduce vulnerability to negative influences and exploitation.
Any intelligence around where knives can be purchased by young people is collated, for any subsequent investigations by regulatory services.
