A Heartfelt & Hopeful Partnership
This young person was in custody, extremely vulnerable, and had very little family support. Having previously supported him in the community, his Citywall caseworker consistently visited him in custody. These visits became one of the few things that he could rely on, and were especially valuable as he had no other visits from family or friends
Our caseworker communicated closely with the team at Next Step, Salford, providing regular and comprehensive updates around the young person’s wellbeing and mental health. With a history of self-harming and suicidal thoughts, this regular contact and assessment was particularly crucial. Our caseworker also went on to support the young person in court during his trial so that he would have a trusted adult by his side, while taking the pressure off other professionals.
This has been a very positive example of the impact of excellent partnership working between professionals to give the young person some consistency and support that he can rely on. The team around the young person emphasised that this regular and genuine emotional support has been invaluable in not only keeping him safe but in giving him a sense of value and of hope – “We will show up for you because you matter, and because we believe in better for you.”
